term='tanning lotion'/>
Best Rated Tanning Lotions

If you want a natural tanned look without exposure to the sun, you need a definitely high quality tanning lotion. Tanning is a result of DNA damage in the presence of the sun's Ultra Violet rays. Its result is manifested in the form of dark skin tone due to an increase in melanin (brown color pigment) production and deepening of the already existing pigment, in the skin epidermis. You need to be prudent in choosing from one of the best-rated tanning lotions to avoid any possibility of side effects, health hazards, or patchy appearance. Therefore, what defines best rated tanning lotions. Following are some of their features:

• Enhancers and additional ingredients
Look for products with natural enhancers and skin nutrients, such as Vitamin E, herbal extracts, hempseed oil, or organic animal extracts. These essential ingredients help in replenishing and moisturizing your skin. This is an important attribute for tanning lotions, as the tanning process tends to dehydrate the skin largely.

• Accelerated tanning process
Some of the ‘skin tanning’ products have a proven ability of accelerating the process to as much as double the usual speed of indoor tanning. Apart from being a time saver, this attribute also helps in minimizing freckles.

• Bronzers
Bronzers are additional ingredients that work towards that glamorous bronze tinge to your skin. The commonly used agent in such products is DHA (dihydroxyacetone). It is a safe substance, which eliminates the use of UV rays exposure for tanning. Often tanning products with DHA are used to enhance or supplement the effects of tanning beds, apart from being used alone. Commonly, these lotions combine DHA with agents that produce tingling sensation to create Hot Bronzers, or with menthol to create Cool Bronzers.

• UV ray protection
UV ray protection is measured in the terms of Sun Protection Factor or SPF. The higher the SPF, the greater protection provided. Specifically look for UVB protection along with UVA, as they are potentially more harmful. However, most of the tanning lotions do not provide UV protection.

You can do your individual research through print advertisements, magazines, and internet for your product. However, you should be aware of the fact that they are designed for regulated indoor tanning through beds or other equipments and are not fit for outdoor use. Therefore, it is imperative to check for SPF content in them, if you intend to use them outdoors. While selecting the ideal skin tanning lotion for you, it is always a better idea to consult an expert, such as a tanning professional, saloon owner, or a dermatologist.

Tanning Myths: How to Combat Them

Now that you have learned the complex effects of ultraviolet light on health, you can understand why people sometimes create myths, or half-truths, about health and tanning; they simply don't understand indoor tanning or the tanning process. The best defense against health myths about indoor tanning is the education of fellow employees and clients. Let's take a look at three of the most common myths, as well as what makes them false. You may want to read this section over several rimes to familiarize yourself with the myths and the factual explanations you can use to combat them.

"Indoor tanning units work like big microwave ovens that can bake the body tissues and fry the skin." One popular legend in many u.s. cities today is that a young woman who wanted a tan for special occasion died after she went on a tanning salon rampage. Before she died, her body smelled sickly sweet, which her doctor explained was the odor of her charred body tissues. But you know that ultraviolet light waves cannot penetrate so deeply into the skin that affect the body tissues, although they may penetrate eyelids to damage eyes. Explain to your clients that ultraviolet light waves are not the same as X-rays or heat rays and, therefore, have different effects on the body. Tell them that overexposure would result in sunburn, not body organs. Take people on tours through your salon and describe how the equipment and lamps work.

You also can use cool logic: The u.s. government is the low on funds these days, but it certainly couldn't overlook an industry that could possibly injure people so severely. If the legends of the roasted tanner were based on truth rather than fiction, the government would have put a padlock on all tanning facilities years ago by regulating the tanning industry. The government has helped to dispel myths like the legend of the roasted tanner, and also has helped established indoor tanning as a viable, professional U.S. industry.

"Ultraviolet light causes skin cancer, including malignant melanoma-the deadliest of them all." As previously mentioned, the two most common types of skin cancer, basal-cell and squamous-cell carcinomas, are directly related to ultraviolet light overexposure and can recur after treatment. But the link between ultraviolet light and melanoma is mysterious, as people who work outdoors actually get fewer melanomas than those who work inside. Educate clients about the increased risks of skin cancer in people who experience severe, blistering sunburns as children. Urge them to use sun screens when traveling to sunny climates. Help them prevent sunburn-which is probably the biggest culprit. Explain how indoor tanning equipment uses a carefully researched combination of UV A and UVB, and administers the light in a controlled atmosphere. This combination, we feel, may decrease the risks for skin damage in the long run. However, industry experts recommend that you discourage people who have been treated for skin cancers from tanning without medical approval.

"People can catch diseases if they tan nude." People cannot contract diseases from properly sanitized, well-maintained tanning beds or from the clean floors of tanning booths. Disease specialists have said that no evidence exists to prove that sanitized tanning units have spread diseases, nor can they spread venereal diseases or AIDS, both of which require intimate contact to get. The potential danger of tanning nude is ultraviolet overexposure-such as sun burn of sensitive body parts that normally are not exposed to ultraviolet radiation. For example, skin on the armpits, back of legs, and buttocks can suffer severe erythema using the same light intensity that only tans the rest of your body.

Suggest that your clients gradually expose their sensitive body areas to ultraviolet light, and that they cover them halfway through tanning sessions for the first three or four times they tan nude. Rashes or itches occurring on the body after ultraviolet light exposure are not an indication of skin disease, but of dry skin or a photosensitive reaction. They often are caused by a combination of heat from the tanning lamps (sometimes perspiration caused by the heat can be the source of the problem), a lack of sufficient melanin in the skin being tanned and ultraviolet light. Both irritations usually subside within several days after tanning has stopped.

White spots or skin striping also are not signs of skin disease. White spots most often occur when oxygen is prevented from circulating in an area of the skin, such as the elbows, usually while clients lie in tanning beds. Skin striping or zebra striping, results from uneven tanning during first exposures to ultraviolet light. Both problems can be solved i£ during subsequent tanning sessions, clients periodically reposition their bodies to provide maximum access to the affected areas.

Sunchain offers tanning salon coupons with the best indoor tanning services in Phoenix, AZ.

What is the weight limit on the tanning beds?

Tanning through tanning beds is gaining a lot of popularity. People do not mind spending extra dollar to get that sun kissed glow. However, it is very essential to get aware of all the factors which affect the use of these beds. One of the things or factor which may ring bells in the mind of the people may be that what is the weight limit on the tanning beds?

The answer to this question depends on the category and type of tanning beds which is used. There is large variety of tanning beds available and all the tanning salons use different type of the tanning bed according to their requirement. Generally, the weight limit of these tanning beds is 250-300 but it is advisable to get aware of the weight limit before you use these beds from the person running the tanning salons.

These beds use the sheets which are made of acrylics. So, the weight limit which it can hold really depends. If you are extremely over weight then before you use the tanning bed the salon owner will be more concerned about this question and he would be hesitant enough to make you sit on the bed. So, it all depends from salon to salon more over the general case is that the tanning beds can hold weight very easily. There is no exact weight limit of the tanning beds. It really depends upon salon to salon according to the bed they are using.

If you have an obese body it is very essential to confirm the weight factor from the salon owner otherwise you may not be able to relax while taking a nap in the tanning bed. Some of the salons use beds in which a person is supposed to lie down on the beds made of the acrylic sheets. Another category of beds are those in which a person stands to get the body tanned.

To get best results it is very essential that you use these beds in a very relaxed way. If you have any question in mind it is very essential to clear it before you lie on the tanning beds. The tanning bed operator will answer your all the questions and give you the exact justifications and explanation to the things which are in your mind. Therefore, to get the best result go for these beds and get that perfect look stop thinking too much and clear all your doubts.

Top 10 tanning lotion

When it comes to tanning, the best way is to use a tanning lotion. In the western world it has become a very popular thing. As a matter of fact in the western world a whole business has developed around this skin therapy. There are tanning parlors everywhere. Getting a tan by the help of a tanning bed is considered as one of the safest methods for tanning. But yet again more and more people prefer sun tanning.

Now the question is it safe to have a suntan without wearing a top? In this way it is possible for one to get a tan for the entire body -- form head to toe. That certainly is an advantage. But remember, there are pros and cons to this method of tanning. Because when you are undergoing a tan, then you are exposing your skin to harmful UV rays. Whether it is the tanning bed or the sun, there is always some risk associated with that.

Not every part of our body is the same. Some parts of the body have sensitive skin. You have to be careful about those areas.

Men can go for a topless tan easily, that is not a problem for them. But women do not have that advantage. Thought the rays of the sun can provide you with a good amount of vitamin D and make your bones strong, but still there are some negative sides to it.

Here are some tips for the women who prefer topless tans.

By having a topless tan you are exposing the skin of your breast to the harmful rays of the sun. The skin on the breast is very delicate. Exposing this skin to the sun will make the skin rough. In that case you might start having age marks on the breast at an early age that will totally ruin the beauty of your breasts.

The second problem is even graver. There is a big chance of having breast cancer due to a topless tan.

If you really wish to get a topless tan then you have to take some precautions. First of all you need to use a good sunscreen lotion before going for the tan. Massage the lotion well on your breasts.

Do not stay under the sun for too long.

If you are having the tan at a parlor then reduce the timer on the tanning bed.

Follow these instructions and have a healthy topless tan.

Bronzing Tanning Beds

Everyone desires to have a golden skin, perfectly tanned. It looks healthy and attractive. Sadly not everyone has the time and money to tan at a beach all the time. This has led to the popularity of tanning salons. Tanning beds use specialized light bulbs that emit artificial sunlight which is a mix of UVA and UVB rays, which together help a person get tanned. There are varieties of tanning beds, some in which a person lies down, booths where one stands up to get tanned and the latest in tanning beds, the bronzer tanning bed.

The normal tanning beds have ten to fifty 100W to 200W tanning bulbs. These bulbs emit 95% UVA and 5% UVB rays. Bronzer tanning beds differ from regular beds. They have 35 to 60 bulbs of 160W to 220W that emit 98% UVA rays.

Bronzing tanning beds are much better that the usual tanning beds since the low level of UVB rays used in bronzing beds do not result in the skin turning red. This reduces the risk of sun burn and help the person achieve a longer lasting and dark tan.

However one has to consider the fact that bronzer tanning beds work slower than the regular beds. It takes a longer time to achieve a dark tan, even though it lasts much longer and does not fade away as fast as tan from regular beds. It is advised that you should first have a base tan before using a bronzing tanning bed.

People often confuse bronzer beds and bronzing bulbs with hot bulbs. Hot bulbs produce more UVB rays than bronzer beds, and produce tan much faster but the tan is lighter. To achieve the perfect bronze look, check with your tanning salon and ensure that you are using a proper bronzer tanning bed.

In case you have a bronzing tanning bed at home, you must ensure that you change the bulbs after 800-1000 hours of use. The bulbs have a longer life but stop emitting the amount of UV radiation that is necessary to produce a tan.
Bronzer tanning beds give you the perfect bronzed look that is attractive and creates an impact. Moreover since they do not emit much UV radiation, they are considered safe. This does not mean that one can use bronzer tanning beds without exercising some caution. Safety of tanning beds is still a hotly debated issue with some scientists insisting that they are harmful and can cause premature wrinkles and skin damage. Use all the precautions and never overdo the duration you spend on the tanning bed.

Tanning swimsuits

The tanned look is really in and it gives the desired sexy feel. Which method is more effective? Which one is less harmful? Sorry to disappoint you dear readers as there is no exact answer to this question.

We all know it very well that the UV rays of the sun are very harmful for the skin. The sun can give you a nice tan but at the same time it will damage your skin as well. You might end up getting sunburn or even skin cancer. You do not wish to damage your skin for a tan now do you?

Here is where the cosmetic tanning or the tanning beds come in handy. All you have to do is spend some time in a tanning parlor and you are done. You come out with a good tan.

Before you go for the cosmetic tan it is better that you know a thing or two about both the methods of tanning.

There are basically two types of tanning bed -- horizontal and vertical. You can stand or lie down, whichever is more comfortable for you. Inside the beds there are UV lamps. Once you get in, then the lams are turned on. Here it should be mentioned that the regular air pressure of the lamps are higher than the regular UV lamps. The good thing is that these lamps are made of quartz. They filter the bad or unwanted UV rays from reaching the skin. In this way your skin remains protected.

But before you go for a tanning bed it is important to know what kind of UV rays is used there. If it is a UVB ray, then it is not harmful. The wavelength of the UVB rays is shorter and they affect the outer layer of the skin, whereas the wavelength of the UVA ray is longer and they are able to penetrate deeper into the skin, which is very harmful.

Even if the tanning bed uses a UVB ray, there is always a chance of heat rash and other skin irritation. If you have sensitive skin then stay away from these machines.

Even though there is a possibility of a sun burn, sun tan is still the safest way to get a tan. Do not forget that sunlight is a good source of vitamin D. At the same time the sun rays helps the skin to produce melanin that actually protects the skin from the sun. For a healthy tan all you have to do is go for sunbathing frequently but do not stay under the sun for too long. At the same time you will have to use a good protective lotion. This is bit time consuming, but at lease it is safer.

Eye protection tanning beds

The tanned look is gaining more and more popularity. It gives the desired sexy look so people do not mind going to any extent to attain this look. In order to make tanning easy and comfortable many tanning salons have been opened. These tanning salons have got a very positive response among the masses and many people go to these salons.

There is no doubt that these salons provide the skin the desired sun kissed glow but it is very important to keep few things in mind in order to get safe tan through these tanning bed. The reason for this is that these tanning beds have bulbs which emit UVA and UVB rays which can have very harmful effect not only on the skin but also on the eyes. It is very essential to be cautions and use proper and right precautions to protect the eyes. You can use disposable aluminum tanning goggles for this purpose or you can also go in for tanning goggles with strap on it which has very tinted viewing holes.

These tanning goggle prevent the harmful rays from entering the eyes. If you ignore this then the result can be irritation in the eyes and it can also lead to more severe problems like cataract and macular degeneration. Some people think that closing the eyes can prevent these rays from entering the eyes and in this way they block the harmful rays. But it is a very wrong belief and eye lids only prevent only 25% of the rays from entering the eyes.

The skin around the eyes is also very delicate and it is also very essentials to protect this area of the eye also. If the exposure to the UV rays is more than it can result in the damage of the fragile skin cells which protect the eyes.

It is better to use personal tanning goggles instead of the goggles which are provided at the salons. This will provide complete and hygienic protection. Some of the eye diseases can be spread from one customer to other by the use of same goggles so it is a better idea to use personal goggles.

The tanning bed salon session can be more relaxing and effective if you use right and appropriate protection and precautions. If you ignore this then in the process of getting glowing tan you can actually lose your eye sight.

Pros and Cons of Tanning Beds

Medical research has found that long sunny days and tanning beds stimulate the body into producing Vitamin D which is immensely beneficial. Vitamin D’s deficiency can cause serious ailments like hypertension, diabetes, multiple sclerosis and skin ailments.

Pros of tanning beds

Tanning beds give the human body the following health benefits:

*Healthy bones and protection against osteoporosis and osteoarthritis
*Positive and brighter outlook to life
*Metabolic efficiency
*Vitamin D
*Protection against cancer of prostrate, breast and colon
*Combats SAD or Season Affective Disorder

*Moreover, the benefits or pros of using tanning beds are that they are convenient.
*In places where one gets no sun through out the year, this is the only way to get the beneficial UVA rays.

The Cons of Using Tanning Beds

*The Cons or dangers of using tanning beds is perhaps just the fact that most people, especially young people tend to overdo it. Tanning beds emit 50% more UVA than sunlight. The youth who are using tanning beds to get the bronzed look tend to be in a hurry. They use the beds for more time than required. So they end up being exposed to the following dangers

*Being dehydrated,
*Suffer premature wrinkling and
*sun burnt skin.
* Moreover such people run the risk of getting deadly skin cancers too.

The UVA bulbs used in tanning beds can affect the eyes. Care has to be taken. Every responsible tanning salon recommends that one should wear sun glasses; some tanning salons stock them for their clients. Most tanning beds come with inbuilt timers which are set at 15 to 20 minutes.

You owe it to your health and well being to follow the following precautions while using a tanning bed

-Prepare your skin by applying the lotion prescribed for tanning
-Use eye protection like shades or goggles
-After your session, use a lotion to soothe the skin
-Do not prolong your tanning session.

The benefits of tanning are many, and as long as you follow the precautions you should be safe from all the harmful effects of using a tanning bed. Tanning is extremely popular both for health and beauty reasons. Of course there are cons of tanning beds, but these risks can be minimized by moderation and following all the recommended precautions. It would not be out of place here to mention that sunlight has more harmful UVB rays and moreover it is easier to overdo tanning on a beach in the sun.

Can tanning beds cause heat rash

The beauty industry is all about the next new big thing. First it was the invention of makeup. Then came cosmetic surgery. And these days more are into tanning. Previously people had to depend on the good old sun for a tan. But not anymore. Thanks to science and technology you can get a tan by going to a tanning salon.

The tanning salons have tanning beds. All you have to do is lie on the tanning bed or stand and you get a cosmetic tan in a very short time.

The tanned skin may add the exotic beauty to your look, but the question is, are they safe? Many people complain that they have rashes and other skin irritation after having a cosmetic tan. That is not something unusual. Many times the skin can react to the tanning bed. Now I know all the salons and the companies that sell tanning beds will promise you zero side effect, but unfortunately that is not true. Both the sun as well and the tanning beds are equally dangerous and harmful. In most cases you might end up having a heat rash.

So what are heat rashes? They are red patches or bumps on the skin. This occurs due to cosmetic tanning. People might argue that your skin is too sensitive to undergo such a process, but the truth is, there is more than one reason behind heat rash due to using a tanning bed.

The first reason is, you could be allergic to the tanning bed, or the UV ray to be more specific. In this case it is better to wait and see if the condition improves or not.

Another common reason to have the heat rash is if the machine becomes too hot. If the machine is too hot then you will sweat more. If you are opting for a cosmetic tan then make sure that the salon has a good fan attached to the machine that will prevent the machine from getting too hot.

Tanning involves heat. This means there is a big chance of the skin becoming dry. Make sure you use a good moisturizing cream or lotion to keep the skin well hydrated.

Last but not the least; you need to know your skin type before you opt for a tan. If you have sensitive skin, then cosmetic tanning is a big no because then you might have more than just a heat rash.

Vitamin D May Lower Cancer Risks - NBC News

Visit msnbc.com for <a style="border-bottom: 1px dotted rgb(153, 153, 153) ! One important consideration is the optimum time lag that should be maintained between tanning session and the subsequent shower. Contrary to the popular view of not taking a shower for several hours after tanning, the fact is, a shower is necessary. It helps your skin get rid of excess tanning triggers, such as oils, dirt, salts, or perspiration. Make sure to use herbal, moisturizing, or other mild soaps or body wash, which are free of any harsh chemicals, parabens, or dehydrating agents. Also, keep the temperature of water at ‘normal’ or lukewarm. Shower at high temperatures reduces tanning effect and can damage your skin through excess dehydration. Indoor tanning fundamentally makes use of three elements, tanning bed, tanning spray, or cream base products, which, in turn, influence the said time gap. Following is a guide to your aid:

• Tanning Bed
It is now established that the process of tanning continues for one to two hours after leaving the tanning bed. Therefore, you must wait for minimum three hours after tanning session to get the desired results. However, this is truer in the case of Bronzers, as an immediate shower can wash them off before producing the desired results. In all cases, remember to use a good moisturizer immediately after tanning, as this procedure leaves your skin dehydrated and dull.

• Tanning Spray
On similar line as in case of tanning bed, it is advisable to take a shower after three or four hours. In addition, since the tanning spray is an externally used substance, use a mild, preferably herbal body cleanser and avoid the use of bathing sponge or other scrubbing agents. Scrubbing or exfoliating can remove the upper most layer of tanned epidermal layer, reducing the tanned appearance of your skin.

• Tanning cream or lotion
Cream or lotion based products require that you take a shower before the session mandatorily. However, post-session do not get into the bath, until the lapse of four hours. Use mild toiletries and avoid using scrubs or rough towels.

In case you chose to tan your skin the natural way, i.e. sun tanning, take a shower immediately after exposure to sun. Sun tanning brings with it a lot of heat and perspiration. Human sweat contains salts, which when mixed with tanning lotions become dirt. To remove this dirt, an immediate shower is recommended more so, as the removal of traces of the lotion do not affect the tanning results in this case. Nevertheless, in the case of sun tanning also, you should take a gentle shower at normal temperature.

What can I expect in a tanning salon

Besides expecting a tan, one should expect that while they are checking out the facility and infrastructure within the tanning salon, the working staff is equally keen to enroll you. So definitely expect to be flooded with pictorial and informative brochures, the various modes and procedures, and do ensure that along with the benefits you also read about the risks. Expect to fill a detailed form with a plethora of personal information about you, some quite personal. This may seem out of place but most of it is very important for the tanning salon staff. It is important to even provide details of current medication, if any, as some can be counter-conducive to the indoor tanning exposure. The intent is not just to make you comfortable, but safe too, and that notches up a good expectation from a tanning salon.

The next step to expect is a conducted tour of the facility and the products in use. You should be open to asking as many questions as keep popping in your mind, even if they seem silly. The staff definitely expects this. Check out the tanning beds and the booths. Check out the cleanliness and the hygiene. Ask about the procedures from the moment you enter the tanning salon on each visit. Talk of the safety features and the regulations. Let us be clear that in your mind there already was a whole lot apprehension about what to expect in a tanning salon, and the slight discomfort builds up as you see people within who are all too familiar with everything, while you with the pale skin are certainly standing out like a sore thumb. But don’t forget that everyone inside was in your shoes when they stepped in the very first time. This apprehension once eased will give you a mental stimulus, and the actual process will later prove to be a very physically relaxing UV exposure, literally.

Presuming you are convinced about getting that tanned look, then at your next visit do expect, or ask for, the following. 1) Protective Eyewear- to protect the eyes from the UV Rays. Most tanning salons keep them, whereas some expect the clients to bring their own. 2) Indoor Tanning Lotion- again some salons use a fixed brand, and some clients prefer to use their own. 3) Towel- to cover areas that do not require to be tanned. Once ready with all, just tuck into the tanning bed and relax. Listen to the music. Even take a short nap. Yes, location is important as it becomes a time-saving experience, depending on the number of visits planned. So you need to decide whether it should be near the home or the place of work. You also have to check the infrastructure and the facilities of the tanning salon, whether it has sufficient booths and tanning beds, including provision for spray or air-brush tanning. The prices have to be within your comfort level and budget, and whether the salon would offer you a package deal depending on your regular and long-term association.

In choosing a tanning salon, it is worthwhile obtaining a first-hand recommendation from friends or associates who have used a particular facility, as they would be in the best position to inform you about the not just the facility, but also the acumen of the staff and the overall service. You may want to compare with that friend the information you have obtained on the various offer packages available in other tanning salons and negotiate a worth-while package deal. It would be worthwhile taking a walk-through peek of the interiors, even inquiring from some staff member about the sanitation procedure.

You must check if the tanning salon is licensed and has trained staff. It is a state requirement that the staff of tanning salons must be trained and knows how to deal with complications. Tanning at a salon involves using of equipment which can cause burns and other complications, if not used properly. Therefore it is particularly important that the staff is approachable, well trained and pro-active. You do not want to risk your health. Check out the equipment. The tanning beds should be equipped with a timer, and also the tanning salon must give you safety measures like dark glasses to protect your eyes.

If you happen to be new to the area, a first-timer in using the facility, and not having friends who have utilized the services of a tanning salon, we would recommend visiting a branded salon that already has a huge chain of outlets all across. This may be a slightly costly venture, but it provides a good idea of what to expect, which can then be bench-marked when you eventually do venture out to choose a tanning salon that fits your bill. Only if you are satisfied must you pay the membership fee.

Will I Be Comfortable In A Tanning Salon

Will I be comfortable in a tanning salon? Let us first frame this question in other situations. Will I be comfortable sun-bathing on a beach? Am I comfortable under the hair-setter and dryer in a beauty parlor? The situation has been taken from a women’s perspective, as generally the males would gladly go where no man has gone before. And if the ladies respond with an affirmative, then the comfort level is best defined and determined by the individual. This is one place you can wear what you want to, or better, the less worn the better. Be comfortable. Relax. You are going to a place that will enhance your looks, and even the way people look at you.

At the same time, let us assure you that it is very natural to be a bit apprehensive about visiting a facility or utilizing the infrastructure for the very first time. And the apprehension is not just about being uncomfortable in a tanning salon, but also about the acceptance and response on your new look from those who are close. Once inside the facility and seeing the response of the clients or the friendly interaction of the staff, the anxiety level takes a drop. And when you see the happy indulgence with the tanning lotion, then a literal lay-back on the tanning bed, and finally the end result on earlier clients, you may consider kicking yourself for not having considered this option earlier or for just having shied away so long.

Once you have identified and chosen your comfortable tanning salon, there are some pointers that you should be cautious about and ensure their adherence within, by you or the concerned staff. Ensure and do inquire about the method of cleanliness and hygiene, as it is a mass utility public place. Ensure you are provided with a pair of special goggles that protect the eyes from UV Rays and that you have them on when being sprayed with UV Rays. Avoid all quick-tan methods by high exposure or maximum dose of UV light, and instead limit the exposure and break them up into time slots and day durations. If you have extreme sensitive skin, or on any long-term medication, or at that time you are not fit and well, or you have a medical condition like diabetes, asthma, lupus, or if the woman is pregnant, then in all these conditions do first talk to your physician before you check out the comfort level of the tanning salon you have so carefully selected.

How much does it cost to go tanning at a salon?

So, you want to know how much it cost’s to go tanning in a salon. Well, let us put this way. It is not exactly cheap. But again, there are salons that are plain practical, and then there are those that are real hi-fi glitzy. It all comes down to an individual’s budget. At the end of the session in either salon, you would have a tan. That much is guaranteed. .

Most tanning salons work on the ‘level’ system, and the higher levels cost more. But first, to give some example of the involved cost factor, a single session can cost as much as $7, excluding the cost of various lotions, and to get a decent looking tan, you would require at least 5 sessions. We are talking only of the UV Ray tan, though there is the cheaper option of the spray booth. It is advisable to take on a membership, which works both ways. The tanning salon is sure about your patronage, and you may be able to work out a package deal that best suits you. More the sessions you purchase in advance, cheaper is the cost per session. So if you book for five tanning bed sessions in advance, you may be required to pay only $25, excluding lotion cost. That’s a saving of $10.

To know how much it costs to go tanning in a salon, let us check some random examples to get an idea. ‘Membership’ requires filling the membership contract and consent, paying the one-time membership fees of maybe $30 and the one month advance for utility depending on the chosen ‘level’. To again cite an example, a Level-1 may cost $25 per month for just the tanning bed, a Level-2 may cost $40 per month which includes Reflector, Euro and Regular Beds, a Level-3 will cost around $50 per month and include Sfinx, Ellipse, Reflector, Euro and Regular Beds, and a Level-4 costing $100 per month will include High Pressure, Magic Tan, Sfinx, Ellipse, Reflector, Euro and Regular Beds. It all boils down to costs and the ‘works’

So, how much does it really cost to go tanning at a salon? The above example is only indicative, and the purpose is to explain the levels and related modus of costing. The real cost is best worked out by an individual on the need-to basis of facility utilization. If you feel Level-1 is too simple, and Level- 4 is way beyond your budget and facility need, then you may want to opt for Level-2.

How do I go to a tanning salon?

Well, if the temptation is about looking good, you would even walk to a tanning salon. On a serious note, most males and females take efforts to look their best, and if a tan can boost an image, then there is hardly scope for second thoughts. So whenever the question pops in your mind ‘how do I go to a tanning salon’, the answer will follow just as quickly. There are however certain considerations that one does need to delve upon before taking the plunge, and it’s not just about the risk factors. You have to be mentally prepared that you really want that tanned look, because once on, you cannot wish it, or wash it, away.

Once you have decided about going to a tanning salon, know that it is a worthwhile experience considering the quickness and convenience in the entire process. It is literally like walking in and out, but the ‘out’ is with a new radiant you. In fact, the little time-spend inside the tanning salon is quite stress relieving, and a great morale cum confidence motivator. After all, isn’t that what’s ‘looking good’ all about? The time we are talking of may be about 7-10 minutes per sitting in 3-4 days per week. The factor becomes more convincing and enticing when the option is to have a healthy tanned look throughout the year in indoor comfort for which you just have to go to a tanning salon.

No doubt a sun-tan is for free, but do you have that time? Our point here is that going to a tanning salon is easy, but the visit will not exactly be cheap. And if you are a good negotiator, there is a possibility that you could work out some package deal depending on the duration of total sittings and advance payment. The idea is that even looking good has to be workable within your personal budget. Inquire about all the charges, whether for the moisturizer, accelerator, bronzer, and even whether towels and safety-goggles would be provided and are included in the pricing.

Now that you know how to get to a tanning salon, do take time out to check out the infrastructure and facility. Consider the option of utilizing the horizontal booth or the vertical bed. Find out from the staff the recommended prior preparations and time duration. Our personal recommendation is to go slow because a tan cannot be undone overnight. And you do want to look your best, at all times, throughout the year.

Are Tanning Salons Safe

When someone enquirers ‘are tanning salons safe’, one is tempted to respond with ‘as safe as driving on an expressway’. Take that with a pinch of salt. Within limits, they are absolutely safe, though there are many who would tend to disagree. After all, we are talking of inducing something by artificial means involving a high degree of ultra-violet or UV Rays. Some people will tell us that the plexi-glass is not sufficient protection from UV Rays so they penetrate deeper and cause premature wrinkling of skin or even cancer. They would prefer the usage of sunless spray tanners available in stores, or really lather up with oodles of sun-tan solution and head out to an open beach.

The counter-point is that we are talking of obtaining a tanned look in off-season, like when it is pouring or snowing outdoors. The point is that the whole matter became a big issue when a medical report mentioned that sunscreen lotions and oils cause skin cancer, but not about the tanning process. And one actually need not apply the lotions or the bronzers to obtain a tan, whether indoor or outdoor. Let us face it, the sun is also good for the skin within restricted months, and the tanning salons are primarily meant to make you look good throughout the year. If we study the entire process of tanning, the end summary would be that a tanning salon is either as bad, or as good, as the natural sun. With questions on the limitation of the sun exposure that a body can actually take, we come back to ‘are tanning salons safe’.

To take the question ‘are tanning salons safe’ further, we will need to delve more on the safety within the confines of the salon rather than compare it with the outdoor sun exposure. Let us know that the average salon has variable facilities and booths that afford a good degree of privacy, with the option of lying down, standing, or even getting the desired tan in the buff. The range of solutions is vast and as the salon staff is familiar with the various skin-types, they usually assist in the selection. This is important as the right solution accelerates the tan while preventing any skin burn. Goggles in any salon are mandatory equipment as lengthy and regular exposure to the UV Rays can be harmful to the cornea. The main reason to conclude tanning salons as safe is that they follow a controlled procedure and provide proper supervision by professionals.

What is proper tanning salon etiquette?

Why do we need to talk of poise, decorum, or etiquette while dining out? Simple. It’s a public place and some proper norms are required to be followed. Some of this applies to a salon too, as it definitely is a high frequented public place, and we will only reflect ourselves as wiser if we know the proper tanning salon etiquette.

But before we define the etiquettes here, let us know that most tanning salons do display prominently their own defined rules and regulation, or the dos and don’ts, which serve as some guideline for the patrons. It is always advisable to go through this list quite thoroughly, even on the first day when you have just gone to survey the place. At least, you are then more familiar with not just what you want, but also about what they expect from you. A good reading through those guidelines will tell a lot about the place, its services, the overall atmosphere, and the employee competency. When you top that up with a conducted tour after reading their guidelines, it helps identify to store most of those regulations in your own mind.

Now, a peek into what would be proper tanning salon etiquette from your perspective. The first thing that comes to mind is adherence of time. If the salon works on the system of advance booking, then ensure you are well before time and come with the initial preparation. There is no dress code in a tanning salon, so take advantage by coming in the minimum clothes to save time un-dressing and later dressing, and do definitely leave all your valuables behind. Women especially take a lot of time with their jewelry.

The moment your session is over, do clean-up a bit if you have made more than expected mess, even if there is an employee to handle the cleaning and disinfecting. It just gives a better impression about you, and then the staff too begins to talk positively about you amongst themselves. Their smile will tell it all. Most important, do get ready to move out quickly from the booth otherwise you would be holding up someone. If you hate to be kept waiting, so do the others. If you need to look presentable, skip the mirror in the booth which is there to help you check the level of your tan, and instead head for the washroom where you can take all the time you comfortably desire. Proper etiquette does place you on a different level, people-to-people.

Should I Go To A Tanning Salon

The best way to obtain the right answer is to experience it first-hand. It’s like asking a woman why she visits a beauty salon when she is already very beautiful. In the same mode, should you go to a tanning salon becomes an equally personal requirement, as the idea is to look healthy and glowing within the shortest time possible. Psychologically, it has been proved that looking good is a positive motivator, a confidence booster, and a stress buster. Both male and female would therefore benefit from a visit to a tanning salon to obtain that glowing skin throughout the year, come rain or snow.

Before deciding on whether you should visit a tanning salon, do ensure that you are not on any specific medication or have a fever at that time, as the ultra-violet rays (UV Rays) can then create some adverse side-effects, besides increasing the risk of sun-burn. Let us face it, the tanning bed or the booth in a salon can get pretty warm, and one certainly would not plan a beach-trip either during any illness. And in the rare case that you do have a family history of skin cancer, or have a hyper-sensitive skin, then it would be advisable to reconfirm your visit after consulting or taking the advice of your doctor.

Once you have decided that you should go to a tanning salon, then do ensure that you first exfoliate the skin by creams or by bath puffs. Also use a good moisturizing cream but minus the sun-screen. This pre-measure helps in obtaining an even tan. Definitely avoid any astringents especially with an alcohol base, as they tend to dry up the skin and the tan is less visible as the UV Rays get deflected. Judging by the texture and color of your skin, the staff within will be able to recommend the number of visits and the duration in each visit to obtain that perfect tan.

It is always wise to know before hand that obtaining the quick tan is really not worthwhile unless you require that tanned look for a specific short purpose. Be prepared to get the desired tan by dividing the duration of each visit. It is but natural that a light or a pale skin tone would require more visits to the salon. So, now that we are back to the question on whether you should go to a tanning salon, our answer would definitely be a ‘yes’. After all, you have nothing to lose, and only gain a glowing tan.

Can I Go To A Tanning Salon When Pregnant

Let us be clear that when we talk of going to a tanning salon during pregnancy, we are not deliberating on the glow of your skin, but on the possible side-effects to the unborn.

While some physicians reject the ‘exposure’ outright, be it within a salon or by the sun, others recommend exercising caution. The latter is because there are no confirmed medical reports or any scientific back-up to indicate that the rays are harmful to the unborn child. Most physicians drive the point hard with a would-be mother by telling her that she did not require a tan when she herself was in the womb, therefore her baby would not require it in her womb either. For you it is important to know that many civic bodies have passed a law against obtaining tanning during pregnancy, and there are salons that reject the client to avoid any legal fallout resulting in liability.

It is always practical and advisable to consult your physician before you plan to go to a tanning salon during pregnancy. Your physician may even give the go-ahead after running some tests. Despite the fact that there is no conclusive proof that the warmth of the tanning beds and the exposure to the UV Ray are not harmful to the developing foetus, but the sudden change in the pregnant woman is detrimental, especially during the first and third trimester. If one could skip that tanned look during those six months of the pregnancy, one can easily skip the balance three too. The hormonal changes during the pregnancy are itself a harbinger of an uneven tan, along with dark brown patches called ‘melasma’. Weighing the hardly existent pros and the dominant cons, we would not recommend going to a tanning salon when pregnant for obtaining a tan using the prevalent UV Rays.

But women desirous of that tanned look over an already glowing skin can take some respite from the fact that there are available some safe options. Most salons have the spray-on booths called the ‘mystic’ or the ‘versa’ spa, and these give a superb tanned look to the skin provided it is properly pre-conditioned and exfoliated. The other option is the application of the self-tanner which is at least safe for the expectant mother and the unborn baby. So in the end we do not change our recommendation but instead restrict it to a limited visit to a tanning salon during pregnancy. We do recommend avoiding the warm beds so that the tan is minus the UV Ray exposure, and only within the spray-booths.

How do I get the best tan from a tanning salon?

Now, when you visit any establishment where you pay quite a high charge for the service, you would naturally want the best. So there is just no bias in asking ‘how do I get the best tan from a tanning salon?’ First of course, you need to know everything that the tanning salon does have for offer, and whether you have familiarized yourself with their infrastructure and got the best deal that matches your defined budget. Take a second look at the family history on skin cancer, also on how pale is your skin compared to ‘normal’, and whether your skin is hyper-sensitive. The staff will definitely need to know whether you are on any medication. Now just select whether you prefer the upright booth or the prone one.

Before stepping into the tanning salon, ensure that the skin is exfoliated and properly moisturized (minus sun-screens) with the right lotions. Avoid any astringents or any alcohol-based products. Ensure that you know your pre-determined schedule days and timings. And when you step into a booth, ensure you have on the safety-goggles before you get the dose of the UV Rays. By having done the groundwork and cross-checks prior to the process, you can try and ensure not just the best tan, but a safe tan too.

To get the best tan from the tanning salon, it is equally important that the staff within are attentive to the details of each customer to avoid any ‘unforeseen’ circumstance. Having chosen your desired booth, the staff must ensure availability during your appointed day and time. It is equally important that you do not miss a session that will reverse some of the effect of the previous one, and the next one may turn out to be a catch-up session instead of moving-ahead. Understand that once inside, it is your preparation that ultimately decides the outcome of the preferential tan. While agreeing that tanning lotions and moisturizers are costly, we advise you to be liberal with their application. After all, they not only ensure an even tan, but also protect the skin from the ultra-violet rays.

The important aspect of getting the best tan from a tanning salon is to not consider yourself as the ‘expert’ just because you read this or some other article. If in doubt on any aspect of the tanning process or if not quite as comfortable, then definitely consult the staff members of the tanning salon. They had determined the degree of the exposure, and they know best how to give you the best.

What is Spraying Tanning

Tanning the natural way is by exposing the skin to sun rays that have harmful ultraviolet radiations that are responsible for the tanning of the skin.

Ultraviolet radiations are known to cause skin irritations and skin cancer because of which artificial tanning of the skin using lotions, gels, sprays etc has become more popular these days. There are different methods of artificial tanning of skin. Some of the most widely employed tanning procedures involve tanning using tan lotions, tanning using sprays, tanning using hormone replacement therapies etc.

Tanning is a procedure that is widely used in areas where the climate is cold or rainy throughout the year. Tanned look is something that’s helps to boost the morale of few people in the western countries. It is now gaining importance throughout and has become a fashion icon these days.

Spray tanning is considered to be the easiest and safest method of tanning since it does not involve exposure to ultraviolet radiations and still gives the desired effect of tanning without any troubles.

There are advantages of spray tanning when compared to other artificial tanning procedures like using a lotion etc, since when using a lotion care has to be taken that the lotion is applied evenly and uniformly so that you get the perfect tanned look. But in case of spray tanning, this becomes easier since application by spray is easier and more uniform when compared to other, methods that are employed for artificial tanning of the skin.

The other advantage of spray tanning over other tanning procedures is that spray tans dry quickly thereby it is a safe and time saving procedure when compared to other procedures that take more time of a person since the lotions and all has to get dried thoroughly before one wears the clothing. In case of a hurry where the individual would want to tan his skin and get dressed immediately the other types of tanning may fall aside because of the mentioned drawbacks.

There are professional tanning salons that do this kind of spray tanning to help individuals get the perfect desired tanned look without much inconvenience.

There is professional air brushing or spray tanning booths where they provide assistance when an individual undertakes spray tanning. The experts help individuals in getting the desired amount of tan and also help them by commenting on whether the tan is evenly applied or not. When it comes to areas like back which an individual may not feel comfortable to spray tan himself there comes the expertise, guidance and helps that helps you make your skin look even from top to bottom covering the back areas too.

It is very important to use a moisturizer before going for a spray tan since that would help the skin to retain its glow even after the tanning procedure is done and as a result the skin looks healthy and glows. Spray tans usually are retained till a week after which a second sitting is to be done if you feel that you need the tanned look for a longer time.

The additional advantage of spray tan is that it is a very safe procedure where the skin of an individual is not exposed to harmful radiations that are known to cause a variety of skin related ailments.

The procedure in tanning salons is very simple where you have to enter a dressing room kind of room and undress yourself. The hair has to be covered using a cap and then a button has to be pressed that would spray the tanning liquid evenly onto your body to get the desired result. The procedure in a professional salon ranges from 15-30 seconds. Imagine getting that longed tanned look in just few seconds! Once the front portion of the body is done the same has to be repeated for the backside so that you get an even tan at the back.

After the procedure just allow it to dry for few seconds and there you get the perfect tanned glow and look in just few minutes and you can get ready to go and bash any party or even to your office with a completely changed look to shock your colleagues.

So what are you waiting for?? Interested to get a perfect tanned look? Look out for tanning salons near to you and get your body the feel of a good, nourished and moisturized skin with a perfect tanned look and the glow that would last for a couple of days to a week.

Happy tanning!!!!

History of Tanning

Tanning is a procedure by which the skin becomes dark or gets a tanned or bronzy look due to excess exposure to the sun. This effect is basically due to the ultraviolet radiations that tend to increase the secretion of a pigment called melanin that aids in a darker skin.

If we go back to history, we can see that people were fonder of whitening their skin for which in ancient times white paints or chalk powders were used. People used to cover themselves thoroughly with full sleeved dresses and long scarves so as to retain their natural whiteness and avoid darkening due to exposure to sunlight.

Anyone darker or with a slightly darker complexion was considered to be of a lower class just because of the dark look. This was the main reason why people used to try and maintain their complexion lighter or would try and use artificial lighteners to make their complexion look lighter.

The tanning which is today a very popular procedure and a style icon used by numerous people was discovered accidentally.

In the early 1920’s there was French designer who had been for a long tour to different countries for her work. On return from her tour that involved her travel from Paris to Cannes, people realized that she had altogether come with a different look and soon people started liking the new look of hers.

Later it was discovered that the tan which her skin had got due to excessive exposure to the sun during her travel had brought about the difference in her skin. This tanned look was liked by one and all and soon tanning became a trend and people started trying out sunbathing and beach bathing as a procedure to get them tanned.

After the accidental discovery of tanned skin, it then became a popular sport kind of thing to bake their bodies in sun and have a wonderful holiday just baking their skins at the beach to get the desired tanned look.

At a later stage when fashion began growing more popular so did tanning become more popular. With the bikinis and swimsuits gaining more place in fashion, tanning also started receiving a special place in the field of fashion. The concept of all- tanned body came into existence where people started tanning their entire body to get a sensuous tanned look.

With the increasing demand for tanning, slowly the market came out with artificial tanning ingredients like lotions, gels, sprays and even pills. In spite of all these products in the market, tanning was a popular event that was restricted to summer since people believed that the natural way to tan was much healthier and safer alternative rather than using artificial tanning lotions.

Later in the eighties, when tanning had gained enough popularity, lot of tanning spas and salons came into existence. The salons guaranteed a natural tanned look in just few sittings ion a tan bed, which slowly started gaining acceptance among the core consumers. This way from the early 1920’s tanning slowly started growing as a huge market and by the eighties there were many salons that were into the business of tanning.

As the eighties ended and the nineties came closer, tanning had taken a big chunk of place in the market and there were enormous number of tanning salons offering artificial tanning using different procedures that would be suitable to different types of skin. Also in the nineties awareness about the health hazards caused due to excessive exposure of skin to sun came into limelight and hence people started preferring artificial or indoor tanning as it is called to be a better alternative to the traditional method of sun tanning.

Soon other benefits in indoor tanning were discovered like the balance of moisture in the skin that is lost when the skin is exposed to the sun for a longer duration and the natural glow that is lost when exposed to sun. Thus indoor tanning became and is still today more popular in countries where the climate is always colder.
Not only this with the advent of new technologies developing continuously, the duration for tanning has considerably reduced from few sessions to few seconds in today’s busy and fast moving world.

With the craze of fashion that is there in today’s generation, it is sure that the concepts of fashion like tanning and other new fashion icons will be well accepted in the market and will continue to grow without slowing down.

Tanning bed safety

All of us want a gorgeous bronzed tan. It looks wonderful and gives the skin a healthy glow. A convenient way to achieve that look is to use a tanning bed. It is an easy and fast way to get a tan. A lot has been said about the harmful effects of using tanning beds. As is true with any kind of scientific benefit, it comes with an inherent rider. We need to use tanning beds sensibly, and with all the precautionary care we would take to use any treatment or medicine.

Tanning beds area simple option to getting a tan. They also help people suffering from vitamin D deficiency by stimulating the production of this vitamin by the body. Doctors often advise people suffering from SAD and mood disorders to use tanning beds especially in countries that do not have long sunny days. They are the fastest way known to mankind to get a tan. You can get a tan by using a tanning bed for ten or twelve minutes at a local tanning salon. This fits easily into the schedule of any busy person. Moreover it is safer than sunlight which is known to have harmful UV rays.

Tanning bed manufacturers would like us to believe that they are completely safe. This is not completely true. The earlier generation beds were very harmful as they emitted UV rays which were much stronger than the sun. However the modern day beds are less harmful. As a general rule it is advisable to take all the precautions and use these simple guidelines.

• Choose your tanning bed with care
Your tan depends on the choice of bed and so does your health. There are so many tanning beds available in the market and there are so many salons. Do your research. Talk to the personnel working at tanning salons. Check out the services and the advice they offer. They will be able to advise you on your skin type, the type of tanning bed you need and any precautions you need to take. Make an informed decision. Your health depends on it.

• Use the best tanning lotions.
The tanning lotion you use regulates the amount of UVA and UVB that hits your body. This in turn regulates the health of your skin. Use a good quality tanning lotion which has some kind of a built in moisturiser. These days many hydrating lotions are supplied by tanning salons that keep your skin moisturized and supple. UV rays being emitted by tanning beds can leach away the moisture from your skin. At the very least it can age your skin and at the worst, it can cause skin cancer. So exercise great care. Some salons also recommend after care for the skin and suggest a suitable lotion to be used after the session. Use them.

If you start getting headaches or feel sick due to your tanning sessions, discontinue them and seek medical help.

• Timing
There are safety warnings put up everywhere in tanning salons. Ignore them at your own peril. Do not over-do your tanning session. The maximum time limit recommended is twenty minutes. Certain doctors advise you to stay for ten to twelve minutes only. Do not over-bake yourself. There are beds that come with a built in timer. It is smarter to opt for them.

• Follow the guidelines
Salons provide you with protective sun glasses, along with the tanning lotions. It is mandatory for them to do so by law. It is a safety measure for the health of your own corneas. Even if you are using a tanning bed at home, follow these guidelines, for your own safety.

• Check the kind of rays the beds are emitting
There are two types of lamps used in tanning beds. Get familiar with them. One type of lamp is H.O. or High Output lamps and the other is V.H.O. or very high output lamps. Unless you have been otherwise advised, the safer option is a H.O. lamp, especially for your own home tanning bed. They are cheaper too.

• Get medical advice before using a tanning bed
You may have some medical history or perhaps you are pregnant. Your family might be having a history of adverse reaction to the sun. Whatever may be the case, it is wiser to check with your doctor prior to getting a salon membership.

• Keep researching all the time. There are always new developments and it is wise to keep abreast with all the knowledge since it is your skin and your health.
These precautions will help you get a safe and healthy tan.

Tanning Bed Effects

Tanning Beds give you all the benefits of the sun. All over the country, people prefer to visit tanning salons where they begin to, within minutes, build a beautifully tanned body.
Actually indoor tanning was starting as a medical research by the Germans who were looking for a treatment for rickets and calcium deficiency. It was soon discovered that people lying in a tanning bed got tanned and the concept caught on. The early beds had many deficiencies and people began to develop skin ailments and even the deadly skin cancer. Manufacturers and scientists started changing the design and incorporating safety systems. Today tanning salons have state of art equipment which is modern, emits less harmful rays and has inbuilt timers and other safety devices. However, in the mind of the public, tanning beds got associated permanently with skin cancer.

The truth is that we have much safer beds now that emit less ultraviolet rays. In fact the new beds use long wave rays called UVA which are less harmful and do not give you skin burn. The ultraviolet rays are drastically reduced and this makes the bed safer.

Scientific research conducted recently has actually found that long sunny days and tanning beds stimulate the production of Vitamin D which is immensely beneficial to the human body. This vitamin is known to have anti cancer effects. A study was conducted on the elderly people who are prone to Vitamin D deficiency. They were given 15 to 20 minutes sessions thrice a week on tanning beds. They showed 50% increase in Vitamin D in their bodies. Vitamin D deficiency can lead to serious ailments like hypertension, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, influenza etc. Exposure to UVA rays actually works similarly to sunlight and helps the body create a natural supply of Vitamin D.

Tanning beds give the same benefits as sunlight which include the following:

1. Bone and mood related health,
2. Prevention of heart disease, strokes and multiple sclerosis
3. Exposure to UV light increase your metabolism and helps burn fat
4. Prevents Vitamin D deficiency.
5. Prevents cancers like prostrate cancer, breast cancer and colon cancer
6. Prevents diseases like osteoporosis and osteoarthritis
7. It helps combat SAD or Season Affective Disorder

People, by and large, prefer to use tanning salons because they are convenient. Also in some countries and places, a clear sunny sky is a rarity. In these places, a tanning bed is ideal. Care, of course, has to be taken. Most beds emit at least 50% more UVA than natural sunlight and the person using the bed should apply some common sense in the duration and frequency of use.

It is a fact that these days tanning beds are used equally for health reasons as well as for acquiring a tan. Modern day tanning beds come with a built in timer and as a rule no one stays on a tanning bed for more than 20 minutes at a stretch. The most popular timing used on the beds is either ten or twelve minutes. Every responsible tanning salon recommends this timing since no one wants skin problems and damage to their eyes.

Most people who use these beds are people suffering from osteoporosis or osteoarthritis. There are patients who require phototherapy because they suffer from SAD or Season Affective Disorders where lack of sunlight depresses them. In view of this, some states have actually placed tanning salons under government regulations. Their employees are trained well and they guide you well.

The best thing to do would be to visit a reputable tanning salon if you require a tan for health or beauty reasons. Responsible salons will offer you protective shades for your eyes, a session to determine your health and beauty needs, an assessment of the depth of tan you can acquire, and also lotions that you need to apply before the tan and post session lotion to soothe your skin.

Some tanning bed safety tips

• Use proper lotion to prepare the skin before you take a tanning session
• Use goggles to protect your eyes
• After a tanning session, use a recommended lotion to soothe your skin
• Do not prolong your exposure to UVA rays.

Tanning is equally popular with men and women. Most people are very satisfied with their sessions because they look better and feel rejuvenated too. Of course there are risks associated with tanning beds, but these can be controlled by taking sensible steps and paying heed to the warnings.

Fake Tanning

Tanning is a procedure that involves use of ultra violet radiations to get an artificially darkened skin, which is known as a tanned skin. The most commonly used procedure for tanning is the sunbath, in which the body is exposed to heat of the sun and as a result of prolonged exposure, the skin by itself gets a tanned or darkened look. There are many disadvantages of this natural tanning by sun. Some of the major disadvantages are sunburns, dry scaly patches on skin, loss of moisture of the skin and sometimes lethal effects like skin cancers.

There are other artificial methods or fake tanning which is much more effective and safe when compared to natural sun tanning. This method is usually known as sunless tanning or artificial tanning or fake tanning. Fake tanning is now gaining much importance due to its benefits that excel the natural method of tanning.

The advantages of fake tanning over natural sun tanning are that for people who have very sensitive skin ultraviolet radiation exposure can be ruled out and certain chemicals which compared to ultraviolet radiations are better can be used to get the required amount of tan. Fake tanning basically involves use of certain chemicals on the skin that helps the individual to get the desired effect of tanned skin without ultraviolet exposure thus minimizing the risks of acquiring skin cancer. Also it is a known fact that during the ultraviolet treatment for acquiring a tanned look, individual pose a threat to their eyes since eyes are very sensitive to ultraviolet radiations and there are chances of developing eye complications like cataract etc which need surgical treatment to be corrected.

There are many chemicals that are used for effective fake tanning. The most widely used chemicals are dihydroxyacetone lotions and tyrosine lotions. There are different forms available that are easy to use at home like lotion form, gel form, sprays form etc. Each product comes with instructions as to how it has to be used to get maximum efficacy in terms of darker skin. Professional tanning specialists always suggest the use of fake tanning products onto dry and clean skin, so that any side reactions can be avoided. There are other instructions that have to be followed like once applied, till the product gets readily absorbed by the body, one must avoid bathing and swimming since that may wash off the tanning lotion and hence its efficacy may be reduced.

Professional salons having experts who specialize in fake tanning use different methods to give the desired artificial tanned look to the client’s using either brushes or kind of spray guns that help to apply the fake tanners onto the body with much ease and more uniformly.
In the above mentioned fake tanning lotions, dihydroxyacetone has been authorized and recognized for safe cosmetic use by the regulatory authorities like FDA. Usually dihydroxyacetone is used in combination with erythrulose for achieving a long lasting near to natural tanned effect.

Tyrosine based gels and lotions helps in faster tanning of the skin since it is believed that they help in the formation of melanin and thereby aid faster tanning when used in fake tanning.

Other than the chemicals used, there are certain other drugs that act as synthetic hormones that induces the production of a hormone called as melanotropin which is responsible for skin darkening.

Fake tanning also involves the use of temporary lotions available that aids in tanning of the skin on a temporary basis. One of the good example for the mentioned temporary fake tanning could be bronzers or bronzing lotions that come in the form of lotions, gels, powders, sprays etc which are easy to use and are for a single day purpose or to retain the fake tanning that has been achieved by using the above mentioned chemical tanning ingredients.

There are certain things to be remembered when using fake tanning lotions or sprays. There are areas on the body that have a relatively tough skin when compared to the other parts of the body like face, arms etc. Some of the tough areas on the body include elbows, knees, ankle etc. Depending on the amount of tanning required it is very essential to use any moisturizer onto the tough parts of the body before applying the fake tanners since direct application may give a patchy or cracky appearance which would spoil the fun of the entire tanned look of the body that is achieved by the individual.

So follow the instructions before you start a fake tanning procedure and enjoy a flawless tanned look same as the natural tan without having the risks of acquiring skin cancers or other ultraviolet radiations related problems.

Enjoy the summer with a cool tanned look!!

Indoor Tanning Tips

Indoor tanning tip #1.

Are you taking any medications for instance for blood pressure, antibiotics, or skin problems? Top quality tanning salons have a photosensitizing medication chart for you to refer to.

Indoor tanning tip #2.

To get the best dark tan results it is important to use a good indoor tanning lotion. Tanning lotions support your skin to absorb UV rays and allow the natural tanning process to occur. Key ingredients in tanning oils enhance melanin production, such as Tyrosine. Your skin will tend to dry out during tanning sessions so tanning lotions can keep your skin moist which allows your body to tan faster.

What causes tanning?

Tanning is the technique which is used to change the color of the skin and give it a different look. This look is very desirable among large number of people because it is believed that it gives a very sexy as well as smart look. Now a days many people are trying out with many things in order to get that tanned effect. It has been estimated that about 80% of the American below the age of 25 years go in for tanning their skin. It is very essential to be aware of the answer to the question “what causes tanning?” Remember that your skin is an important part of the body and any harm to it can have a very negative effect on your well being. Therefore, this makes it essential to take good care of the skin and avoid anything which harms the skin.

Tanning is done through various ways. It can be done by exposing the skin to the rays of the sun. Now days with the advancement of the technology many tanning salons have been opened. These tanning salons provide tanning through the tanning beds which emit the rays artificially. There are also other ways to tan the skin like applying the tanning lotions, tanning oils and even tanning pills can be taken to get the tanned effect on the skin. But it is very important to have knowledge about how these things work and cause tanning. The answer to the question “what causes tanning?” will make you aware of the various facts of tanning and it will give you an exact idea of what changes are going in your body during the process of tanning.

The most common way of tanning is through the exposure to the rays of the sun. These rays emit the ultraviolet rays. There are two main types of rays UVA and UVB rays. Among these rays UVA rays help to tan the skin by penetrating deep into the lower layer of the skin. The UVB rays cause sun burns by burning the upper layer that is the epidermis of the skin.

Basically, tanned skin is the proof of that your skin has been affected by the ultraviolet rays. The rays of the sun cause darkening of the skin by increasing the release of melanin in the cells of the skin. This melanin is produced by the cells known as melanocytes. The ultraviolet rays when comes in contact with the skin then they stimulate these cells which in turn leads to the formation of the brown pigment, melanin. Therefore, it is basically melanin which results in the brown color of the skin. The melanocytes also help to protect the skin from the sun by making even more melanin after the contact with the ultraviolet rays. Basically, the melanin acts like an umbrella for the cells of the skin and it also gives the sun kissed glow to the skin.

Tanning through the tanning beds is done through the same technique. The bulbs in the tanning beds emit ultraviolet rays and these rays lead to tanning in the same way as is caused by the exposure to the sun. The only difference is that in the tanning a bed tanning is done in the controlled environment and under professional guidance. The time of the exposure to the rays and the intensity of the rays are controlled in the tanning beds.
The tanning lotions, tanning oils and the tanning pills work on the principle of producing the coloring pigment, melanin.

After knowing what causes tanning you will get an idea what you are actually doing with your skin when you use various techniques to tan you skin. It is very essential to go in for safe tanning by using various precautions like applying the sunscreen and using goggles etc. Remember that well being of the body should be first priority and then an individual should go in for the looks. Though the ultra violet rays help to tan the body but over exposure to these rays can result in various skin problems as well as diseases. Therefore, think twice before you opt for any technique of tanning.

How to get a good tan?

Many people love to get their skin tanned but because of the side effects of tanning and lack of knowledge they fail to decide how to get a good tan. There is no doubt that a good tan makes the person look sexy and smart and in addition to it also imparts a thinner as well as healthier look to the person. Though there is no such thing as “safe tan” but people still go for it for one reason or another. It is very essential to follow the right rules and guidelines when you opt for tanning the skin.

Tanning can be done through exposure to the sun or through the use of tanning beds. If you want to get tan through the exposure to sun rays then you should follow some steps which will help you to get a good tan. One of the first things to be done is to exfoliate the skin with the help of a loofah and exfoliating wash. This will help to get rid of the dead skin and the new and fresh skin underneath will retain the tan in a better way. Then you should use a sun tan lotion which has SPF of around 8 or 10. Make sure that the sun tan lotion has a moisturizer in it. Macadamia nut oil or Aloe Vera is a good option as they keep the skin moist as well as prevent the sun burns.

The tanning through the sun will show best results if you choose that area which has maximum sunlight and where you are comfortable enough. The best place for tan is the beach. Do rotate your body and change the position so that the rays of the sun reach out to all the areas of the skin. Initially, you can go in for 15 to 20 minutes of sun exposure and then 30 minutes after that. Washing the body with a good moisturizing soap after sitting in the sun rays will give you a good tan. Also use a good moisturizer to retain the tan for a longer period of time.

Sometimes because of the weather fluctuations it is very difficult to get a good tan from the sun. Therefore, people go in for tanning through the tanning beds. One of another reason for people going in for this technique of tanning is that the sun rays are very harmful and they have very harmful effect on the skin. In order to get a good tan and flaunt the tanned body in summer you should follow the following guidelines while using the tanning beds.
The first thing you need to do in this regard is to build a base tan and follow the tanning sessions in the tanning beds regularly. You may require about 6 to 8 sittings in the tanning beds however the number of sittings depends upon the skin tone. In order to enhance the effect of tanning you should go in for a tan accelerator which is specially designed for tanning through the tanning beds. This will also help to build as well as maintain the base. Do exfoliate the skin before sitting in the tanning bed this help you to achieve good tan.
After the tanning sessions go in for moisturizing the skin but avoid a moisturizer with a mineral oil as this will prevent you from getting a good tan. After the formation of base tan go in for tanning session 2 or 3 times per week. Switching between the low and high intensity bed is a good option. Even right diet can result in a good tan. Therefore, eat foodstuff rich in beta carotene and include foods like carrot, tomatoes, radish and broccolis etc in your diet. This will enhance the tanned effect and give the sun kissed glow to your skin. Also take care of your skin while tanning and never let it dry and you really need to take extra care of your face.

Another thing which will result in good tan is the right clothes. Wear minimum and comfortable clothes while getting your body tanned. Remember that only those areas will get tanned which will receive light. You can even go nude in a tanning bed as tanning in these beds is carried out in a private area.

Just follow the above rules and suggestions and you will surely get a good tan.

How To Tan Faster in a Tanning bed?

Getting a skin tan is the trend nowadays, because it really makes you look good and sexy. In olden times tanning happened naturally to people who worked outdoors for long hours under the sun, but today people with pale color skin are looking out for different ways and means to get that bronze look. Of course you can get yourself tanned by exposing yourself to the sun rays. People used to spend long hours in the beach to get the desired tan. But now studies have now proved that the ultra violet rays of the sun can cause harmful effects on your skin, and the most dangerous one being skin cancer.

So what are the other alternatives to get a sun tan? Get yourself tanned indoors! You can now get desired tan by various other ways like applying self tanning lotion, spray on tanners, by using tanning lamp, tanning bed and tanning booths. Tanning beds are now preferred by everybody, instead of exposure to the sun because, you can control the ultra violet rays you receive and control the amount of time and condition of tanning.

Using a tanning bed helps you get tanned in a faster way. And it is also fun. They are easy to use, come in many varieties and are very useful when you need to get yourself a tan on a winter day when there is no sun.

So if you are planning to go for special event and want to get tanned fast, a tanning bed will help you to get the tan you desire. The most important thing that you should keep in mind is that you should take care of your skin before and after tanning. This not only helps to protect your skin, but also help you to get a faster and better tan.

Now let’s see how you get a tan faster in a tanning bed? Certain tips are given below:

The most important factor is exposure time which will be listed on the bed. Older models had a higher exposure time, but the newer models come with a lower maximum exposure time. This will help you to develop a faster tan than the older models.

Dead skins are difficult to tan. So the night before you are planning to use the tanning bed, you should take a shower and exfoliate your skin using a exfoliate scrub. This will help to remove the dead cells. Now your skin is ready to get tanned faster and more evenly.

Shave your legs before tanning, because if you shave later, you will be removing the tan.

Get your skin moisturized. This will help you to tan faster. Use moisturizer even after the session especially with vitamin E. This will protect your skin. Before using the tanning bed, apply a tan accelerator lotion also. This will quicken your tanning. You don’t have to use expensive lotion. Just remember to use something.

You have to lie in the right position while using a tanning bed so that your body gets evenly tanned. Don’t use the pillow in the tanning bed. Your chin will rest on your neck and the neck area will not get tanned properly. Or if you are using the pillow look up and expose your neck. If your tan is not even, it will not look good and it will look like a fake tan.

Don’t keep your arms and legs closed. The inside area won’t get tanned properly. So spread your arms and legs apart.

There are different models of tanning beds. Some have few bulbs, while some have more. Use a bed which has more lights. This will help you to achieve a darker tan faster. Always select a tanning bed that has newer bulbs instead of old bulbs. This will help you to get a tan faster in less time. It makes you look beautiful, sexy and very attractive. And it is not a wonder that teenagers are looking out for various ways to get the golden color. Today most of the teenagers know that sun tan can cause skin cancer due to the effects of ultra violet rays. So they are all the more careful to protect their skin from the rays of the sun by applying sun screens. But in spite of this they want the tan to look good. But in spite of all this, more than 60 percent of the teenagers admitted to have got sunburned during the summer last year. As far as today’s teenagers are concerned, they would do anything to look good. If they know that tan makes them look good, they are ready to get tanned, skin disease or no.

Usually it is not right for children below the age, to go for tanning. A bill has been passed in many states of America that children below the age of 18, have to be accompanied by a parent and they are not allowed to use the tanning bed unless they have a doctor’s certificate. The doctors are very happy about this bill that has been passed, because they know the dangers of the effect of ultra violet rays on the skin. But the salon owners are not very happy with the passing of this bill, because it would affect and hurt their business. In fact in Texas any child under the age of 13 should produce a doctor’s certificate to go for tanning.

Some parents allow their daughters to tan after they attain 15 years of age. According to these parents, it is better to allow the child to go to a tanning salon, than get baked in the sun. Some parents have allowed their children to go for tanning only after they are 18.
Some parents are not able to know when their child had started tanning.

Teenager who goes for tanning should be matured enough to understand the details about tanning and should be ready for it. If you are too young you will find it very difficult to stand it. In fact a 13 year boy had to suffer burns after he went for tanning in a tanning booth.

Most salons have a minimum age requirement. They usually don’t allow anyone to tan below the age they have specified. Generally the minimum age is 18 years. Not only that, the salon owners knows that you won’t be allowed to be tanned unless you are 18 and have your parents permission. Anyway salon owners are limiting minor’s access into their salon as it is also lawfully wrong.

Anyway anybody below the age of 18 is advised not to go for tanning. The minimum age to go for tanning varies from state to state, although it is generally around 14 years of age. If you are between the ages of 14 to 18, you need your parent’s permission. But if you are above 18, you can go for tanning without your parent’s permission. Some states require that the parent should be present in the salon when the child is getting tanned, while some other states allow a written consent from the parent. But the salon owner should verify the consent document thoroughly and only then allow the teenager inside the salon. If he makes a mistake it is lawfully an offense.

Some salon owners recommend the teenager using the tanning bed to be at least 13 years of age. However they operate according to the policy of the state in which they are functioning.

Nearly 29 states in America have passed laws restricting teenagers from entering the tanning salons. Any way according to the present law, children below the age of 13, need to have a doctor’s consent to tan and any child above 15 should have their parents permission, and anyone above 18, can tan without the parents consent.

So it is best and safe and advisable that you go for a tan only after you are 18. Of course tanning is beautiful, but to become beautiful, you should not damage your skin.

How long should you wait To Shower After Tanning

Getting that bronze look, makes you look beautiful and sexy. There are many people who just love to get that golden tan. Of course the most popular way of tanning is the sun tan or the beach tan. This was very popular when tanning was a fashion in 1970’s. Expose yourself to the sun rays for some hours and you will get yourself tanned. Since too much of exposure to the sun’s ultra violet rays can cause skin diseases, people are now looking out for other options.

There are various other options that are available for people who want to get a tan without exposing themselves to the sun rays. They are tanning lotions, creams or powders that give a temporary tan, Spray tanning booths where tan is applied to the skin by way of compressor or hairbrush, tanning accelerators containing tyrosine. Tanning pills containing cathanxanthin, which changes color of skin, tanning spray and tanning beds.

The one doubt that occurs in the minds of that most of the people who plan to get tanned is “how long should I wait to shower after tanning?” Normally we can say a few hours, but there are many different opinions. Anyway it depends on which method you are selecting to tan yourself.

If you have been exposing yourself for some hours under the sun, then you should have a shower right away. In this way you can remove the lotions and oil which you have applied on your skin. Since you will sweat due to the heat of the sun, there will be salt and perspiration deposited on your skin. A shower also helps to clean your skin. Don’t have a very hot shower. As soon as you dry yourself, make sure that you apply some moisturizer on your skin.

Some people think that you should wait for about two hours to shower after tanning in a tanning bed. Actually this is not true. After you use a tan bed, you can shower immediately. Now don’t worry that your tan will fade. The tanning bed tans the melanin underneath your skin. In other words it is in the pigment of your skin, not on the surface of your skin. So, showering just after your bed tanning will not fade your tan. If you are using a bronzer you might have to wait for 1-2 hours. Or the bronzer might get washed off, and you will not get the desired result. Some salon suggests you have to wait at least for about half an hour before you shower, after using the tanning bed.

Some people get easily tanned in summer, but they are very pale in winter. One option for such people to get a tanned look is to use a self tanner. There are many brands of self tanner to choose from. After using a self tanner, you should not shower immediately. You should wait at least 4-6 hours before you shower. Or you will risk washing away the tan.

In the case of using a spray tan, you will have to wait for about 4-6 hours. The color will continue to develop up to 24 hours after you use the spray. So the longer you wait to shower, the more color you will get. If you use a spray mist tan, wait for about 4 hours before you shower. If you wait accordingly, the stuff will stick on to your body properly and it will stay there for 5-6 days without fading, (even if you scrub). Apply rub on tan after you shower. But always apply moisturizer after you shower, especially on the dry parts of your body like elbows, feet and palms etc. because these dry parts will absorb the tan faster, making it look darker than the other parts.

After a hairbrush tanning, make sure you shower only after 8-12 hours. Use an alcohol free shower gel, because alcohol based products dries up your skin, and makes the tan fade faster. If you see the cosmetic bronzer getting washed off, don’t worry, it is normal.

Take it slow. Tanning does not happen overnight. It takes 6-8 sessions to get a tan Always drink plenty of water during tanning to avoid dehydration. So you can shower as soon as a sun tan, but wait for 4-6 hours after any other way of tanning, to achieve effective results.

What are the benefits of tanning

There is no doubt that the sun kissed glow ,makes a person look very sexy but people are reluctant to go in for tanning to achieve this look because they think tanning to be very harmful. The general notion of the people is that tanning causes many skin problems as well as dangerous diseases. But the amazing fact is that even tanning has many benefits and these benefits may outweigh the risk of the tanning. This statement may arise the question then “what are the benefits of tanning?” Surprisingly, it has many benefits and they are stated below.

The vitamin D which is also known as the sunshine vitamin comes from the sun light only. This vitamin helps to prevent various deadly diseases like cancer, heart disease, osteoporosis, multiple sclerosis and other diseases. The main function of the vitamin D is that it helps the body to absorb calcium and phosphorus. Therefore, it is very essential for the body. In addition to this, vitamin D also helps in regulating the growth of cells in the body. It has been estimated that many Americans living north of Atlanta are at the risk of the deficiency of Vitamin D and many are suffering from its deficiency also. Therefore, the first major benefit of tanning is that the body produces vitamin D when it is exposed to the sun light. This vitamin performs various functions in the body and it also plays an integral role in the well being of the individual.

Then another benefit of tanning is that the exposure to the rays of the sun helps to prevent several types of cancers. It has been researched and proved that moderate amount of exposure to the sun light is very healthy as well as essential. The research has shown that the cancer rates are higher in the sun deprived areas of the world. This proves that tanning can be very helpful to the body and it saves the body form the deadly disease like cancer. Therefore, next time when you go in for tanning then instead of feeling scared about harming the bodies just think that you are doing something healthy.

These benefits of the tanning may open your eyes and you may realize the importance of tanning. Researchers have proved through their studies that regular exposure to the sun is very essential as it lowers the risk of malignant melanoma. According to an industry research, indoor tanning helps to decrease the incidence of sunburns. Tanning salons which have been opened widely educate the people about the benefits of moderate tanning and also to prevent the sun burns. Thus, the indoor tanning industry has brought a revolution and they list various benefits of tanning when a customer asks them the question “what are the benefits of tanning?” These benefits are benefits only till that point where the tanning is done in moderate ratio only. Remember that anything which is done in excess becomes harmful. The same thing applies to the process of tanning also. If it is done moderately then it has many benefits but if it is done in excess then it has very harmful effects on the body. Therefore, it is very essential to follow the tanning sessions very carefully. This will not only give you the desired glow but also keep you healthy.

The indoor tanning industry is making the people aware of the tanning benefits and they are changing the notion of the people who are against the tanning and who have an idea that tanning is completely harmful for the body as it has many side effects. It has also been seen that tanning helps to clear the skin and helps the skin to get rid of acne. The tanning is also believed to decrease the stress level as the rays of the sun decreases the adrenaline level and releases endorphins which give the feeling of well being. Therefore, another benefit of the tanning is that it can help you relieve of the mental stress and tension.

So, now after becoming aware of so many benefits of tanning you can go in for tanning in a relaxed and tension free way. Think that tan will make you body more healthy as well as it will make you look sexy.

How to lay in a tanning bed

Tanning beds release the ultraviolet rays artificially which help to tan the skin. These beds have bulbs on the bottom as well as top of the bed. These bulbs emit UVA and UVB rays. However, tanning through these beds is not as simple as it sounds. The reason for this is that only the exposed areas of the skin are tanned and this may result in an uneven tan.

The general question which is asked by the people who want perfect tan is “how to lie in a tanning bed?” The position of the body is very important as it helps to achieve even tan. You should also keep in mind the time for which you are going to be inside the tanning bed. It is better to turn sides half way through in all the sittings of the tanning bed. This will help the rays to reach out to all the areas of the skin and consequently give you a very natural and even tan. Generally, people relax in the tanning bed and at times they fall asleep so you can take timer along with you which will remind you to change the position.

In some cases, people in order to achieve even tan lie on their back in one session and then on the other side in the next session. But this will not give you the desired effect. The reason for this is that every tanning salon has many beds and all of them are different and you may not get the same bed in every sitting. All the beds give different effect because the bulbs of each bed have different strength and the strength depends upon how old they are.

Another thing to be kept in mind while lying in the tanning bed is that you should keep your legs and arms spread apart so that the areas between the legs and on the insides of the arms are also exposed to rays of the tanning bulbs. Also, tilt your head back or remove the pillow from the tanning bed this will help your chin to get tanned properly. The basic idea is to expose all the areas of the skin to the rays of the tanning bed so that tan looks real and natural.

There is no point in deciding the position and thinking over the question” how to lay in a tanning bed?” if you can find a standup tanning booth. In these booths tanning is done by standing in the rays. But because of comfort factor people prefer the tanning beds as they are more relaxing. The main reason for the uneven tanning is that there is gap on both the sides of the bed because the sides of the bed are open. Therefore, in order to get the natural tanned look you need to rotate the position of the body at regular interval. In some cases the uneven tanning is the outcome of not applying the tanning lotion. The tanning will start to even out if you start using the tanning lotion on regular basis.

It is very essential to follow the tips regarding how to lie in a tanning bed because this will help to give your skin an even sun kissed glow which will look very natural. Ignoring the above tips and suggestion can make your complexion appear very made up and artificial. Another thing to be kept in mind while tanning is the purpose of tanning that is which areas you want to expose. Therefore, you need to wear the clothes accordingly while lying in the tanning bed.

So, lots of people are turning to the tanning beds to achieve this tanned look. . If you are using the tanning beds for the first time then many questions may arise in your mind. One of the first question may be “what do I wear in a tanning bed?”

If you choose the tanning salons for tanning then you need to keep various things in mind for safe and good tan. Therefore, you should be very careful about what you wear when you sit in the tanning bed. Tanning beds consists of bulbs which reflect rays which help in tanning the body. It is very essential to wear the proper clothes in the tanning bed as the proper effect of tanning depends upon the clothes you wear. You can also go nude in a tanning bed if you are comfortable with it. This way the rays of the bulb can reach out to all the areas of the body. Moreover, the tanning through the tanning beds is done in private therefore you can easily opt for that.

But there are people who are very reluctant to do so. Therefore, they really think hard on the question “what do I wear in a tanning bed?” such people can go in for wearing a bathing suit. Even tube top and underwear will solve the purpose. But make sure that you wear as little as possible. Make sure that the tanning bed is cleaned after each use. If you are going to the tanning salon as you are planning a holiday then it is better to wear that bathing suit which you will take along with you on the holiday. In this way you can have a perfect tan according to your requirement.

If you want to track the difference and see how much you have tanned then you can keep very little area covered in order to compare and see the difference. You can even wear a bra and a panties as the skin of these areas is sensitive and can result in burning.

It is very sensible thing to decide before hand what will you wear in the tanning bed in order to avoid last minute confusion when you reach the tanning salon. You should also keep in mind the requirement when you decide what to wear in a tanning bed. Another factor to be kept in mind is that tanning salons do not give much time to prepare before and after tanning session, therefore go in for those clothes which you can wear and take out quickly and comfortably. People try out with various things to get the sexy tanned look. In order to intensify the effect of tanning and achieve a good tan it is very essential to use tanning oils. One may wonder “How does a tanning oil work?” the answer to this question will make you aware of the various facts of tanning. These oils are every effective and are must for the perfect tan.

There are number of tanning oils are available in the market. These oils work in number of ways depending upon the brand of the oil. One type of oils is that which has melanin as the principle ingredient. They give the tan look to the face by producing extra melanin. Another technique used by these tanning oils is to bring the higher level of melanin to the upper layer of the skin. This is done by increasing the flow of blood. It is very essential to understand how tanning oils work because this will give you as exact idea how important these oils are for your skin.

The skin has two layers the first one is the outer layer called the epidermis and the inner layer is the dermis. The dermis consists of sweat glands, nerve endings and hair follicles. The epidermis does not have any direct blood supply. Epidermis has many layers and the deepest layer of it is called stratum basale. This deepest layer is affected during the sun tanning process. The tanning oils and lotions are also called sun less tanning techniques. These lotions and oils affect the stratum corneum which is the outer most layer of the epidermis.

The tanning oils which are very effective have dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the key ingredient. It is basically a colorless sugar. This DHA is responsible for the darkening effect of the skin. The DHA does this by interacting with the dead cells of the outer layer of the epidermis and leads to the chemical reaction which results in the changes in the color of the skin. The effect of these oils remains for about 7 days, the reason for this is that the dead skin is eliminated naturally and the new skin is developed after every 35 to 45 days. The skin colored by the DHA, wears away because of the natural process of the renewal of the skin. Therefore you need to apply these tanning oils on the regular basis for even as well as long term tan.

Even other forms of sunless tanning like lotions, sprays, gels, bronzers as well as the tanning pills work on the principle of the tanning oils only. All these things color the outermost layer of the epidermis. But the tanning pills are supposed to be very dangerous as they cause various side effects. The easiest thing is to use a bronzer but this gives a temporary form of tanning. It is can be easily washed and cleaned like make up.

These tanning oils can also be used in order to enhance the effect of tanning which is done through the tanning beds. Special tanning oils are available which are meant for the use in tanning beds only. Then you also get those tanning oil which can be used to enhance the effect of tanning which is done through the exposure to the sun rays. Therefore, these oils are very beneficial. You should apply them liberally before you expose your body to the rays of the tanning bed or the sun rays. But it is rightly said that everything in excess is very harmful. Similarly, more sun exposure can have a very harmful effect on the skin. It is very essential to be aware of the various affects about tanning only then you can take proper care of the skin and follow the right skin care routine.

The exposure to sun helps in the formation of Vitamin D which is also known as the sun shine vitamin. This vitamin is very essential to keep the bones healthy. Deficiency of the vitamin D can cause various problems and diseases and one of the diseases related to it is rickets. Therefore, exposure to the sun is very important. However, sun exposure results in tanning of the skin but the tanning in small amount is must as it protects the skin from the harmful rays of the sun. Tanning helps to reduce the risk skin cancer and also diseases related to bones. But it is very essential to note that this implies only if there is moderate sun exposure.

If the exposure to the harmful rays of sun is in excess then it can have negative effect on the skin. One of the reasons for this is that sun rays emit UV rays which are very damaging for the skin. That is why doctors suggest using a sunscreen in order to protect the skin from the sun rays. In order to get the tanning done properly and control its effect nowadays many tanning salons have been opened. Many people are getting attracted to these salons. But it is very important to be aware of the tanning facts before actually going in for tanning beds. These tanning beds whether you use a commercial one or the one at home, work on the same principle. Though these beds are available in variety of models they show almost the same results. The bulbs of the tanning beds have wattage which range from 100-160 and their number range from 24-46.

If a person wants to use the tan bed then he needs to lie down on the bed which is with Plexiglas. The whole body is covered under a cover. The bed operates in such a way that the light hits from above as well as below the Plexiglas cover. The amount of the radiation is according to the power of the bed, the number of bulbs and it also depends upon the skin type of the individual. But you really need to be aware of the fact that it is not necessary that these rays are safe. Generally these beds emit UV rays which are very damaging. You can even set the time for the exposure to the radiations. The equipment switches off automatically if there is malfunctioning or an emergency.

The maintenance of the machine is very essential to ensure its proper functioning. For example the lamps need to be changed regularly. Then it is very imperative to clean the machine properly in order to increase the efficiency of the bed. You also need to check the fans. There should be not even a single scratch on the acrylic sheet.

Recent times has seen increased rush at the tanning booth but before going in for it make sure that there is no such thing as “safe tan”. The UV rays of tanning bed are as harmful as the rays of the sun. Don’t think that tanning from the bed will help you tan the skin safely. Make sure you use a sunscreen lotion while getting into the tanning bed. The sunscreens with “the broad spectrum” are very effective so you can go in for these.

Another fact about tanning is that it may lead to a reaction and have an adverse effect on the skin so you really need to be cautious. As a precautionary measure you should go in for wearing special goggles in order to protect the eyes from the harmful rays. Closing or covering the eyes will not solve the purpose.

The above tanning facts will give you a very good view about the effects of tanning. Therefore, keep these facts in mind before opting for anything of this sort.

Tanning beds tips and hints

With the advancement of technology there have been many innovations in all the fields. Covering the eyes will not solve the purpose you need to wear good quality goggles as these beds emit harmful rays which can cause eye pain or injury. Strictly avoid the contact lenses while going in for these beds. Then the next tanning bed tip is to decide the exposure time. You should go in for those beds which recommend lower exposure time. In this way with less exposure to the Ultraviolet rays you will get the desired tan. The lotions are very good options to enhance the effect of the tanning beds. These lotions help to absorb the rays of the tanning beds. Go in for those lotions which are labeled ‘accelerators’.

Another tanning bed tip is that these beds should not be used more than thrice a week as it can slow down the process of tanning. The rays of the tanning beds are like the rays of sun only therefore you need protection from them. You should wear a good quality sunscreen which has high SPF count in addition to the moisturizers. This is because the harmful rays of these beds can cause various skin problems as well as diseases.

The sun burns do not look good therefore you need to follow the following tanning bed tip. You can go in for tanning wearing your swim suit and in this way you will tan all the exposed areas of the body. The negative thing about this is that in this way you get lines which may be revealed when you wear certain type of clothes.

If you want to make your tanning sittings effective then you need to follow the above tanning bed tips and hints. You can start sitting outside spending hour after hour hoping that the sun hits you just right for that balanced tan, or you head to the tanning salon. For those that want to chose the latter to make sure they have the perfect tan listed below are the basics you need to know before your first indoor tan.

Tanning beds use a similar wavelength of light to UV rays from the sun.
